Distribution of Free Materials & Community Information Policy
Approved November 2006.
Consistent with the American Library Association Bill of Rights, Lilly Library will provide space for a Community Bulletin Board and information racks for freeinformation materials.
The limited space will be dedicated to the distribution of community information materials, handouts or the posting of flyers, notices, and posters, which present current and relevant news about nonprofit educational, cultural, public interest and intellectual or recreational services, and charitable activities and events.
Designated display space may NOT be used by for-profit groups, companies, organizations or individuals. Commercial advertising, solicitations and business cards may not be posted. Materials promoting political campaigns or viewpoints, or doctrinal beliefs will not be accepted for distribution. Petitions, personal sales, or job postings will not be accepted for distribution.
Distribution or posting of community information materials does not necessarily indicate the library’s endorsement of the issues or events promoted by the materials.
The Library Director shall make the final determination as to whether materials comply with these guidelines.
Arrangement of Bulletin Board
Display space is available for community organizations and services, charitable, educational and non-profit organizations, and government assistance notices, book related and library events taking place in our community.
Due to limited space available for community information materials, only a limited quantity can be accepted, and it will only be made available for a period of one (1) month.
Large posters and announcements are not accepted for display. The size of all materials to be displayed shall not exceed 18” X 24”. No signs will be posted on the library entrance doors except for library’s events.
Community information materials cannot be returned once given to the library for posting or distribution. Materials periodically will be rotated and/or discarded.
